Each time I see a video of women using dance through their labor I get so uplifted! I’d love to see the study done on these children. Right brain, creative and having all the right moves! Can you see them, down the road…on American Idol…well…it all started at birth…I’m just imagining!
Don’t let the name of these wonderful new classes make you shy to try these classes. I think a great tag line would be- moving to make birth and birth recovery easier and more fun! We offer a class that is an hour and 15 minutes in length but we do much more than dance. We start class off with some stretching and inspiration. Moms with their babies wrap them in a sling or carrier and begin to use this time to share with the pregnant moms some of their new found wisdom in this sharing and inspiring beginning to class. We then move to the birth balls to stretch and warm up our bodies. Then we stand and stretch a bit more and get our bodies moving. We will be moving to reggae, eastern dance, African and Caribbean beats and will even throw some contemporary music into the mix. We talk about the movements that will facilitate the optimal positioning for the baby during labor and birth as well as get your heart rate up a bit to burn some post baby calories.
